Tour of the School Review

Tour of the School Review

 Planning

  • I looked at the shots that I could use and how I could use them to show all of them in my video.
  • I then thought about what I would like to film. For example, some of the shots have been filmed in a lesson and some of them have been filmed around the school.
  • To make sure the shot would work, I videoed each shot twice so that I would always have a backup if I one of the shots cut off too quickly.
  • When editing my video, I made sure that the order of each of the shots would fit in together so that the video would flow nicely. For example, I used an extreme long shot and then a long shot because it would have been unusual to use a close up after the extreme long shot.
  • I also considered using some effects in my video to try them out and to see what I liked. The first effect I used was a black and white effect on the extreme long shot. The effect suited the shot well because it will make the viewer feel as though the school is a boring place and to most people... a dreaded place!

What did you find difficult?

I found it very difficult to get used to the editing programme, Adobe Premier Pro CS6, because I have never used it before so it was new to me.

It was very hard trying to get the shots in the order that I wanted them because all of the shots were in a different order when I videoed them.

I also found it difficult to video the extreme close up because not only was I close to my friend's face but I didn't use a tripod so I had to try and keep my hands very still so that the camera wouldn't move.

What would you change?

I would add in some music or some other sound effects to add a bit more interest to the video. Although there is sound on the video, there isn't much going on with the sound because I mainly focused on getting the shots right.

What will you do differently next time?

Next time, I will consider other ways to make my video even better by adding sound and cutting some of the shots down shorter because some of the shots last a long time which is quite boring. I will also make sure that when I video an extreme close up I will use a tripod so that the camera is still which is something that was quite hard to get right.
