Tour of the School 2 Review
Planning
- I used the sheet that told me all of the possible movements I could use in my video. From this, I was able to plan out where I would video the movements and how I could do some of the more tricky ones such as the over head pan
- My original plan was to film different parts of the school and to make a story out of it. This was going to include a year 12 student chasing a year 7 student. The year 7 student was going to be scared because they thought that they were going to get hurt when actually, the year 12 student just wanted to give the year 7 their planner.
- However, due to unforeseen circumstances, I was unable to be in the lesson which meant that I was going to have to use other shots that Ben, Laura and Elleah had done.
- Using these shots, I was able to edit them in a way that would link together quite nicely.
What did you find difficult?
One of the problems I faced was not knowing what had been filmed. This was due to my absence in the lesson so had to make sure that all of the movements had been used.
What would you change?
I would have liked to have made the over head pan and follow movements a little bit smoother because they were quite unsteady. This is due to the camera being heldhand which is quite a tricky thing to do.
I would also make sure that the camera was running for 5 seconds before and after the shot to make sure that the shot wouldn't cut in half way through.
Something else that I would change is how there was a pause between the camera being used and Elleah walking. For example, the slow plan and follow shot towards the end could have been smoother by making sure that there wasn't a delay between Elleah walking and the filming.
What will you do differently next time?
Next time, I would like to film each of the shots twice to make sure that the shot is perfect.
I will also make sure that the camera is filming 5 seconds before I actually want the shot to start to ensure that there aren't any random parts where the subject is waiting to move.
Risk Assessment
1.) Something that we considered was the overhead pan and making sure that the camera was fitted correctly to the tripod. If the camera wasn't fitted properly then it could have fallen and hit Elleah and possibly broke.
2.) We also needed to consider when the corridors were being used because if they were busy someone could have walked into the camera or tripped over the tripod. This could have caused them to hurt themselves or damage the equipment.
3.) Also when filming our shots, we could have filmed someone who might have not wanted to be in the video. This would have been a problem because they wouldn't have wanted people to see them in our video. We needed to consider the times of when we used the corridors because other people could have been using them too.
4.) The follow movement was something else that we considered as this could have been problematic. This was due to the pace at which Elleah was skipping and how the camera also needed to move at the same speed so that we could keep following her. However, the person holding the camera could have tripped because they were concentrating on making sure that the camera was staying relatively steady.
Very good level of detail!
